Bingo Jackpots Explained: Fixed and Progressive Jackpots

Jackpot rooms are among the most visited in any bingo app. This guide explains how fixed and progressive jackpots work, what usually triggers them and what to check in the room before you play.

Two kinds of bingo jackpot

Almost every jackpot you will see in a UK bingo app belongs to one of two families. Knowing which one a room offers tells you most of what you need to know.

A fixed jackpot is simple: the room tells you the prize and the condition, and the prize does not change. A progressive jackpot builds up over time, which is why its figure on the room card rises between games.

What usually triggers a jackpot

A jackpot is rarely paid for “any full house”. The most common condition is a full house within a set number of calls: complete your ticket on or before a stated ball and the jackpot is yours alongside the normal prize. Miss the number and the game pays its standard prizes while the jackpot carries on to the next game.

Other rooms use a special pattern in 75-ball bingo, or a jackpot tied to a particular number being called. The exact rule sits in the room information, and it can differ from one room to the next in the same app.

Shared jackpots

Some jackpots are shared across a group of rooms, or across several sites that run on the same bingo platform. A shared jackpot grows faster because more tickets feed it, but more players are also chasing it. The room information says whether a jackpot belongs to one room or to a wider pool.

Jackpots and prizes at the brands we recommend

BrandWhat the operator lists
Mecca BingoJackpot games clearly marked in the lobby, themed rooms
Kitty BingoNo progressive jackpot rooms listed; free bingo nightly 8-9pm, 1p tickets with daily prizes
Lucky Pants BingoNo progressive jackpot rooms listed; free bingo nightly 8-9pm, 1p rooms with daily prizes, Pick a Pant daily prize game

The room information in each lobby is the place to check the current jackpot rules. Every reviewed brand is compared in a single table.

What to read before you buy tickets

Open the room information and look for four things: the ticket price, the number of players, the jackpot condition and whether the jackpot is fixed or progressive. A busy room with a large jackpot gives each ticket a small share of the chance; a quieter room with a modest prize may suit a longer session on the same budget.

On a phone, pre-buy is useful for scheduled jackpot games, as it lets you join a game that starts while you are away from the bingo app. Auto-daub makes sure a called number is never missed on a small screen.

Keeping jackpots in proportion

A rising meter can make a room look more attractive than it is. The chance of meeting a jackpot condition in any single game is small, and it does not improve because the jackpot has grown. Choose rooms by ticket price and how long you want your budget to last, and set a deposit limit before you start; the mobile setup guide shows where to find it. The formats guide explains how each type of game is won.

Quick answers

What is a progressive bingo jackpot?

A progressive jackpot grows each game it is not won, usually by a small part of every ticket sold. It keeps growing until a player meets its winning condition, then resets to a starting value.

How is a bingo jackpot usually won?

Most jackpots are won with a full house within a set number of calls, for example on or before a stated ball. If nobody meets that condition, the normal game prize is still paid and the jackpot carries on.

Do jackpot rooms cost more to play?

Ticket prices vary by room. Some jackpot rooms cost the same as standard rooms, others charge more per ticket. The room information in the app shows the price before you buy.

Does buying more tickets guarantee a jackpot?

No. More tickets give more chances in that game, but bingo is a game of chance and no number of tickets guarantees a win. Set a budget before you join a jackpot room.
