How We Rate Bingo Apps: The Review Method for UK Bingo Apps

Every bingo app review on this site follows the same method, built on public sources that anyone can check. This page explains what is looked at and how.

The sources behind every review

Each review is built from sources that any reader can check:

  • App Store and Google Play listings, for which devices an app supports, the minimum system version, the seller and the age rating.
  • The operator’s own website and terms, for the bingo formats offered, the payment methods listed and the safer gambling tools.
  • The UK Gambling Commission public register, for the company that holds the licence and its account number.

Where a fact cannot be confirmed from one of these, it is left out, not guessed, and where sources disagree, the operator’s own current page wins. That is why some reviews list payment methods and others do not.

Four areas every review covers

1. Usability on a phone and tablet

How quickly you can reach a room, whether the lobby shows ticket price and start time before you join, and how the app handles a larger screen. Brands that publish separate apps, such as Mecca, get a short explanation of which app does what.

2. Games and features

The bingo formats the brand lists, from 30-ball to 90-ball, plus features such as auto-daub, pre-buy, chat hosts and jackpots. The formats guide explains how each game is won.

3. Payments

The methods shown in the cashier for UK players. Credit cards cannot be used for gambling in the UK, so they never appear in the lists.

4. Privacy, controls and licence

Where deposit limits, time-outs, reality checks and self-exclusion sit in the app, which company holds the UK Gambling Commission licence, and how the brand points players to support such as GambleAware and GamStop.

How device support is recorded

Every brand is recorded against four ways to play: iPhone, Android, iPad or tablet, and the mobile browser. A device counts as an app only when a store listing for it exists. Where there is no listing, the review says the brand runs on the mobile site, which works on every device. This is the data behind the device icons in the comparison table and the answers in the finder.

How the finder matches apps

The finder on the home page asks for your device and your priority. It then shows brands that have an app for that device and meet the priority: easy navigation, four or more bingo formats, a tablet layout, or payment methods listed in the cashier. The matches come straight from the recorded facts, so two people with the same answers see the same results.

Brands that change or close

Bingo brands change hands and sometimes close. When that happens, the review is rewritten to say what changed, as with Betway Bingo, which has closed, and bet365, which no longer runs its bingo product. Readers of those reviews are pointed to the three brands we recommend today: Mecca Bingo, Kitty Bingo and Lucky Pants Bingo.

Safer gambling in every review

Every review ends with the account tools and a reminder to set limits before playing. Bingo is a game of chance, and no app, format or room can change that. Free, confidential support is available from GambleAware, and GamStop blocks all UK-licensed gambling sites at once.

Quick answers

Where does the information in the reviews come from?

From public sources: the App Store and Google Play listings, the operator's own website and terms, and the UK Gambling Commission's public register.

Are the reviews ranked?

The comparison and the finder match apps to your device and priorities using the facts recorded in each review. They are starting points, not a league table.

How often are reviews checked?

Each review is checked again when an operator changes its app, its product or its licence details.

Do affiliate links affect the reviews?

Some links earn a commission if you open an account. The facts recorded in each review, such as devices, formats and payments, are the same whether or not a brand has such a link.
